Covid Friendly Summer Dates

Updated: Jun 5, 2022

As we inch closer to summer and the weather gets warmer, we may be tempted to ditch the COVID protocols and enter into summer full send. While vaccination numbers are on the rise, we are not out of the clear yet, and so it is important to take the proper safety measures as you prepare for summer. COVID-19 has put a damper on everyone’s love life and has made dating extremely difficult. Whether you have been in a long-term relationship or are looking for a summer romance, we have curated a list of COVID-friendly date ideas that will keep your love life afloat this upcoming summer.

1. Outdoor Picnic

Outdoor picnics have been all over my Pinterest feed lately, and I have been dying to go on one. Picnics are great for all budgets as you can adjust all items to your price point.

2. Drive-in

Even when there is not a pandemic, an indoor movie theater should not be the first choice for a summer date. Instead, capitalize on the warm weather, and find a local drive-in for you and your boo.

3. Game Night

A game night is a classic that can be recycled time and time again. Pick your favorite card, board, or drinking game and make a night out of it.

4. Pick Your Own Fruit

Going to pick fruit is a great date idea that is both delicious and COVID-friendly. Research what fruit is currently in season in your area and go get some fresh air (and fresh fruit).

5. Beach Sunset Tailgate

One of the best parts of summer is that the sun sets later in the day. If you are lucky enough to live near a beach, then even better, but if not, drive somewhere you can get a good view of the sunset. Pop the trunk and use blankets, pillows, and lights to create a cozy environment that sets the mood. Bring your favorite food and drinks to enjoy while you spend this romantic evening accompanied by a beautiful view… oh, and a sunset too.

6. Take a Hike

Take on the great outdoors by going hiking on a local trail. Catch great views, sun, and possibly feelings too with this date idea that requires you to unplug and spend some quality one-on-one time with your date. Do not forget to bring SPF!

7. Mini Golfing

Mini golfing is a great classic date idea for COVID since it is easy to stay socially distant from other parties. Show off your putting skills at a local mini-golf place, and finish the date with some ice cream. This light-hearted date will bring out the child in both of you.

8. Water Activities

Kayaking, paddle boarding, or just swimming in a local body of water is ideal for a hot summer day. Grab your favorite bathing suit, towels, and sunscreen for some fun in the sun.

9. Backyard Campfire

Summer campfires are one of my favorite activities in the summer. Make some s’mores for something sweet, cook a hot dog on a stick for something salty, or put your imagination to the test. Cuddle up with your date by the fire while you eat some yummy treats. I promise the fire won’t be the only thing heating up on this date.

10. Visit a Vineyard

If you are lucky enough to live near a vineyard and are old enough to partake, go on a wine tour. Although wine tastings are normally associated with a (perfect) girl’s trip, they are also a fun way to loosen up and try something new with your partner.
