Bianca de la Garza's Getting Her GLO On

By Aida Toro

Lights, camera, action! Those are three words Bianca de la Garza is used to hearing. De la Garza is best known as the former network journalist for ABC and FOX local stations. Over the course of her 20-year career, she worked as a journalist in several markets, including Los Angeles, New York, and her hometown of Boston. De la Garza also reported on stories overseas and covered some of the biggest stories in American history, including 9/11, the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William (for which she received an Emmy nomination) and the Boston Marathon Bombing.

After a successful 20-year career as a journalist, de la Garza created BIANCA, a late-night talk show featuring A-list celebrity guests that went on to beat Saturday Night Live in the ratings several times. At the same time, de la Garza began creating her own makeup line, Bianca de la Garza Beauty, which has released five products in 2018 and 2019, including In Glo We Trust, an illuminating serum that provides an all-day treatment and natural glow.

“As women, we're always subscribing to the definition of beauty that those in the ivory tower choose,” said de la Garza. “Now there's this democratization of beauty where women, via social media, can express their wants, needs, beautiful shades and colors to the world.”

In 2019, de la Garza is also launching her own TV show, a national programming block called Beauty Planet, set to air on TVK24 before

the end of the year in more than 12 million homes. Her first show, which she's currently filming in Asia and the U.S., will be called "Being Beautiful with Bianca de la Garza" and will feature the beauty industry's top influencers and experts.

In addition to Asia, de la Garza will be filming her show in France and her father's native Mexico. De la Garza says she's excited to produce and host the new series and wear several hats. “I’m excited to be chronicling the beauty industry today,” de la Garza says. “The conversation is global and having a huge impact across cultures… When people watch “Being Beautiful,” they will quickly learn what’s happening in beauty today is far from superficial.”

De la Garza will also be bringing her 13-year-old daughter Danica with her to Mexico to teach her daughter about their roots and the beauty of Mexican culture and she's excited to introduce Danica to the strong, independent Latina women in her family. “What I love about Latinas is that we're very feminine, but we're also very strong!” de la Garza said. “I want my daughter to see that you can be both."

So how does this TV host, exec producer, entrepreneur and single mom juggle all of these projects? She says the answer is simple: sleep. “If we want to stay young, feel young and look young, it’s not about expensive procedures," says De la Garza. "The best thing we can do for ourselves is get the right amount of sleep. Cultivating our inner GLO will only radiate outwards to the world!”
